log shipping status

We have set up log shipping in standby mode so users can run some reports.
Every once in while, the restores long runner and our users would like to
know how much more time before its done.
Is there any query they could run to see what files its restoring or the
last file it has restored so they can get a feel of what Tlog file is being
processed.
It may not be perfect, but its a lot better if they know that the last Tlog
file restored or the current file its restoring is just 10 mins ago vs 10
hrs ago.
Thanks
Hassan
Take a look at DBCC LOGINFO(dbid) command

Log Shipping Problem/Question.

It seems that my warm standby database is locked up in status
(Loading). The Standby server locked up over the weekend and now the
database was left in (Loading) Status.

If I try to right click on the database in enterprise manager and do a
properties I get the following error message:

"Error 927: Database 'db name' cannot be opened. It is in the middle
of a restore."

Is there some way to abort the current restore process and re-start
the log shipping process?"kip cavin" <cavink@.sitemaster.com> wrote in message

You can try a RESTORE DATABASE 'db name' with recovery

That may get it back into a usuable state.

(You might also try RESTORE LOG from disk ='applicable log file' with
standby='c:\foo.log' This should try to restore the log and put the DB in
read-only mode, but allow you to restore subsequent logs w/o an issue.sql

Log shipping alerts

the "Log Shipping alert job-restore" job keeps showing a status of "failed" ,
however the databases are in sync. and yes I do have sp3;
mrdj - are there any entries in the system error log files that may point to
something?

|||The only message is it states that the database is out of sync by XXX
minutes, which again does not make sense because as I run queries the
databases are in sync.

|||another interesting thing is that when i look in the Log Shipping Monitor
properties, although it shows the last backup file to be accurate, but for
the last file copied (and the last file loaded) it shows
"first_file_0000000000.trn" and the copy/load deltas show the same number of
minutes that the alert job claims to be out of sync.
